Worship

The word "worship" originated as a description of a physical position in which one knelt in the presence of one greater. Martin Luther's last words were "We are all beggars." Reliant sees worship first as a receiving of God's gifts. We kneel as beggars to receive his Word, his grace, his promises. Second, worship is a response to receiving these gifts in praise and thanksgiving. Central to worship is the Word of God, the gathering of the Christian community, and the sacrament of Jesus' body and blood (Acts 2:42).
